Asylum seekers staying at a COA (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers) reception center can open a simple payments account with Yoursafe via the COA.
The COA pays the fixed monthly costs for this payments account. The account holder receives a standard debit card that can be used to make payments at the point-of-sale and online and to withdraw cash. The account holder can also send and receive account-to-account transfers but cannot pay by direct debit.
With a COA payments account at Yoursafe, you cannot pay by direct debit. Asylum seekers who move from the COA to their own home are often unable to pay their rent and other fixed expenses because these are usually debited by direct debit.
